Analog Spectrum
Analog Spectrum – Doug and Tony - are two Gen X 50-something guys who have managed to stay friends for around thirty years. They enjoy analyzing and debating entertainment, (pop) culture, and the general concepts of society through their unique, often retrospective, lens. They may know some things, but they don’t know a lot. They are doing this strictly for fun. Take that as a warning that you probably shouldn’t expect much; however, if we’re super fortunate, they might be able to bridge the gap between the analog years and our current digital days while providing an interesting perspective on several fascinating and noteworthy topics that clearly don’t matter all that much. email us at analogspectrum@gmail.com -- Twitter: @analogspectrum -- Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AnalogSpectrumDT

These Artists Are Just Not Good
Monday Aug 08, 2022
Monday Aug 08, 2022
This podcast is a mistake! We are going to totally regret it! As promised in the “Rock & Roll: the Ultimate Guide to Life” discussion, Tony and Doug decided to cover those musical artists and bands that everyone seems to love and often idolize, but, for whatever reason, Tony and Doug think they are overrated. Before you listen and harshly judge, let us all agree that musical tastes are subjective. However, let’s also agree that Neil Young has a terrible voice. It…is…just…TERRIBLE!! Before you delete this show off your device in a fit of rage, you should know that the guys likewise make several excellent recommendations about bands and artists they think are underrated. So there’s that! Consider this an opportunity to get angry while broadening your musical tastes!

Tony and Doug are arguably well-traveled. They have a discriminating eye for what is awesome and what might blow your mind. Bottom line, they have some recommendations on places you should see in our glorious United States.
- Grand Canyon? Why haven’t you been there yet?- The Florida Keys? You bet!- Mount Rushmore? Why not?! - Yosemite? Are you kidding me?- Big Bend? It's just not the same without you!
Their travel suggestions are straight up SOLID! Maybe you’ll plan a trip around what they have to say, probably you won’t. Either way, while listening to this podcast, you will be entertained!

Rock & Roll: The Ultimate Guide to Life
Monday Jul 25, 2022
Monday Jul 25, 2022
Doug takes the lead in this podcast. He makes the essential point that within the greatest songs and lyrics of the past decades, the Rock gods – Dire Straits, Kansas, Pink Floyd, Bob Seger, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Black Sabbath, Credence Clearwater Revival, the ULTIMATE Rush, the list goes on and on -- taught the whole world how to live the best possible life. This one is a real thinker. Additionally, there is lots of degression into what makes a band or performer excellent and why today’s music doesn’t hold up when you compare it to what came before. Probably best to listen to it while sober. Of course, this is not mandatory! Almost guaranteed, we’re going to say a few controversial things that’ll upset you. You’ve been warned!

A 70s Kid
Monday Jul 18, 2022
Monday Jul 18, 2022
This is, without a doubt, objectively, the most incredible podcast ever made! Or it could be the worst. Who am I to say? Either way, Tony and Doug go off script to discuss a bunch of their childhood memories. Don't let the title deceive you; they spend a little time venturing into the 80s, but it's mostly the 70s, and it pretty much stops there. Did you have a similar childhood? Do you share youthful experiences with our insightful yet idiotic hosts? Listen in and find out!

Video Game Retrospective
Monday Jul 11, 2022
Monday Jul 11, 2022
Are video games addictive? It is a rhetorical question. We all know they are! Shocker! Doug and Tony play video games. They play video games A LOT! From Galaga to Destiny 2, from Coleco Electronic Football to Zero Dawn, they cover a lot of ground in this podcast. Listen in as they discuss those games that kept them up all night, led to divorces, and jeopardized their jobs. Don’t judge! Just enjoy. These podcasts just keep getting better and better!

Analog Spectrum #02: The Top 10 Movies from the 70s!
Sunday Jul 03, 2022
Sunday Jul 03, 2022
Doug and Tony share their top 10 movies of the 70s. Five are Doug’s, and five are Tony’s. That equals ten. MATH! That is pretty much it. Also, if you disagree with their choices, that is fine. However, it would help if you made peace with how amazingly wrong you are. Oh, and they have a heap of honorable mentions. Enjoy!

Analog Spectrum #01: Even MORE Maverick!
Sunday Jun 12, 2022
Sunday Jun 12, 2022
The dudes at Analog Spectrum decided to start their podcast journey by sharing a conversation about Top Gun: Maverick. A safe start, no doubt, but you must admit, Maverick (the film and the character) provides an interesting connection between the analog 80s and the digital 2020s. I only wish they’d taken the time to talk about that. Finally, they spend a few minutes towards the end to cover some notions Around 2000 Mules from a less political, more artistic point of view. Enjoy!
